State Bank Announces Bank Closures for Labour Day on May 1, 2024 – Notification Issued

ISLAMABAD: Banks nationwide will be closed on May 1, 2024 (Wednesday) in observance of Labour Day, as announced by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday.

According to a brief notification from the central bank, May 1 has been designated as a public holiday by the government of Pakistan.

“The State Bank of Pakistan will be closed on May 1, 2024 (Wednesday) due to the public holiday for Labour Day, as declared by the Government of Pakistan,” the notification stated.

Labour Day, also known as May Day, is commemorated globally on May 1 to show solidarity with workers and recognize the rights of the working class.

The occasion highlights the contributions and accomplishments of workers worldwide and aims to promote job security and protect laborers and industrial workers from exploitation.
