RAWALPINDI: One of the two accused of robbery and violence against a female teacher in Rawalpindi was arrested in an alleged police encounter, while the other escaped.
According to the police, the two robbers who robbed a woman two days ago in the Waris Khan area are brothers. The bandits, who were involved in a serious incident with a woman, opened fire on a police party late at night.
During the retaliatory firing, one robber was arrested while injured, while the other accused escaped.
When the Rawalpindi police signaled a suspicious motorcycle to stop, the robbers riding it opened fire on the police. Subsequently, after the alleged encounter, a robber was arrested in an injured condition. He has been identified as Hamza, and a pistol and the used motorcycle were recovered from his possession.
In the initial investigation, the arrested robber confessed to the incident of robbery and torture of a female teacher in the Waris Khan area. The accused disclosed that the other accomplice involved in the incident was his brother. On the information of the incident, senior police officers reached the spot and a search operation has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.
Private TV channels, citing police sources, reported that the accused are residents of the Sadiqabad area of Rawalpindi. The accused were also involved in other incidents earlier. They had stolen earrings from an elderly woman in the New Town police station area. They were also involved in the incident with the woman in the Khanna area of the Sadiqabad police station. The injured robber has been shifted to the hospital.
It is worth noting that the incident of robbery and torture of a female teacher in Rawalpindi had caught the attention of higher officials two days ago due to the video going viral on social media. The Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab had taken notice of the incident.
