PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has formed a Provincial Working Group on Human Rights to ensure the protection, promotion, and enforcement of human rights.
According to a notification from the Department of Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights, the group will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It will include the Additional Chief Secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs and other secretaries.
The group also comprises secretaries from the departments of Law, Labour, Elementary Education, Social Welfare, Environment, and Industries, along with the Director General of Law and Human Rights, who will serve as the member-cum-secretary.

The working group’s duties include working with partners to protect human rights in the province, making sure Pakistan follows its human rights promises, and acting quickly on the National and Provincial Action Plan for Human Rights.
Additionally, the group will review the human rights situation, promote policy, legal, and administrative measures, and provide recommendations to the government for human rights protection policies.
This step by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is seen as important for improving the human rights situation in the province.
