ISLAMABAD: The US government has decided to fully close the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) for Pakistani students.

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) confirmed this decision, stating that the program will no longer continue based on instructions from the U.S. Department of State.

According to USEFP, this program has been running for the past 15 years, offering Pakistani students educational opportunities, cultural exchange, and leadership training in the United States.

Thousands of students benefited from the program, improving their academic and professional skills while also promoting mutual understanding between the two countries.

The organization said this decision might disappoint students who applied for the program in 2024.

However, students are advised to look for other international scholarships and exchange programs that match their educational goals.

USEFP thanked all the students, teachers, and partners who participated in the program and said they remain committed to providing educational opportunities for Pakistani youth in the future.

The official announcement of the program’s closure has also been shared on the organization’s website and social media platforms. This step is seen as a notable change in educational ties between the two countries, with possible long-term effects.

In its closing announcement, the U.S. Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) extended its best wishes to all aspiring students and wished them success in their educational and professional journeys
