LAHORE: The Punjab government has prepared a security plan for mosques and imam bargahs in Lahore for the arrival of Ramadan. More than 75,000 officers and personnel will be deployed to secure all religious places.
IG Punjab Usman Anwar said that over 5,000 police personnel will be stationed at mosques, imam bargahs, and markets in Lahore during Ramadan 2025. He added that search operations are ongoing around mosques, imam bargahs, and other important religious sites.
IG Punjab also stated that Safe City cameras will be used to monitor all activities continuously. He mentioned that this year’s security plan is better than the one from last Ramadan.
On the other hand, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, announced that no evidence of the moon sighting was received across the country. Therefore, the first fast in Pakistan will be on Sunday, March 2، 2025.

After the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad held a press conference. He said the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met at the office of the Administrator Auqaf in Peshawar to decide on the sighting of the Ramadan 1446 AH moon.
He noted that scholars like Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Maulana Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor, Maulana Yasin Zafar, Mufti Ali Asghar Abdali, Mufti Yusuf Kashmiri, Mufti Faisal Ahmed, Qari Abdul Rauf Madani, Hafiz Abdul Malik Brohi, Maulana Ashraf Ali, Mufti Qari Mehrullah, Sahibzada Syed Habibullah Chishti, Mufti Zameer Ahmed Sajid, Maulana Sardar Muhammad Khan Laghari, and Maulana Asad Zakariya Qasmi attended the meeting.
Members of the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Peshawar were also present. Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that the sky was cloudy in most parts of Pakistan, though it was clear in some areas.
