Federal govt to transfer green line bus service to Sindh in December 2024

KARACHI: The federal government will hand over the Green Line Bus Service to the Sindh government in December 2024.

Government of Sindh has completed preparations to take over the operations of the Green Line Bus Service.

According to the statement, Secretary Transport and MD Mass Transit Authority participated in the meeting, in which a detailed discussion was also held on the project of connecting the Green Line with the Naj Line. The ongoing operations, utility services, and Green Line bus subsidies were also discussed in the meeting.

Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Green Line project is an important component of Karachi’s public transport system and wants the work of connecting the Green and Orange lines to be completed before December 2024.

He said that the federal government is giving a subsidy of 2 billion rupees on Green Line operations, which the government of Sindh will review. After the transfer of the Green Line project to Sindh, more buses will be added to it.

Sharjeel Memon also said that people are happy with the Sindh government’s public transport projects. Public transport has been a long-standing problem in Karachi, and they want more improvements in the transport system.
