ISLAMABAD: Ex-PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced that his upcoming political party will be named ‘Awam Pakistan’ and is anticipated to be unveiled this month.
During an interview with a Private TV Channel, he stated that the party intends to file an application with the Election Commission of Pakistan using the aforementioned name.
When questioned, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi clarified that he wouldn’t align with the PML-N due to his endorsement of the “vote ko izzat do” narrative, which shifted upon the return of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to the country.
Abbasi believed it would pose a “challenge” for Nawaz to rejuvenate the party. The ex-prime minister acknowledged Nawaz’s sentiments towards him, affirming his solidarity during Nawaz’s difficult moments.
While criticizing the actions of the National Accountability Bureau, he emphasized that accountability follows a straightforward process. “If someone wishes to scrutinize, they should examine the expenses of the individual under review,” Abbasi stated, adding that those who don’t pay taxes resolve the issue.
