Interior Minister Initiates Special Force to Protect Foreign Nationals in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has opted to establish a dedicated protection force to safeguard foreign nationals within the federal capital territory.

During a session addressing the law and order scenario, the Interior Minister emphasized the necessity of ensuring thorough security measures for foreign nationals.

Naqvi underscored the significance of prioritizing security arrangements for key establishments and areas, notably the red zone in Islamabad.

He emphasized the need to equip the Islamabad Safe City project with contemporary amenities akin to the Lahore Safe City initiative. Additionally, he highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the condition of police stations in Islamabad, promising visible progress in the coming months.

In a bid to combat drug-related activities, the Interior Minister instructed for a stringent crackdown on gangs engaged in narcotics trade, stressing the utilization of modern technology to bring them within legal bounds.

Naqvi unequivocally stated a zero-tolerance policy towards the sale of intoxicants, particularly outside educational institutions, deeming drug peddlers as adversaries to the nation’s future and pledging severe punitive measures against them.

Furthermore, Naqvi urged for effective measures against the beggar mafia and called for a comprehensive strategy to address traffic concerns in the capital.

Inspector General Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, provided a detailed briefing to the assembly regarding the prevailing law and order situation.
