ISLAMABAD : Former Prime Minister Imran Khan achieved a significant legal triumph as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the sentence he had received in the Toshakhana case on Tuesday.

The IHC, which had reserved its verdict a day earlier, ordered the release of Chairman PTI, who is currently held at Attock jail. The court provided a concise announcement of the decision and stated that the detailed reasons behind the suspension of the sentence would be elaborated upon in the forthcoming detailed verdict.

This pivotal judgment came in response to Imran Khan’s plea challenging his conviction and the sentence handed down in the Toshakhana case.

Following his conviction by a district and sessions court in the federal capital on August 5, the former prime minister was taken into custody due to his involvement in corrupt practices related to the state gift repository. He was sentenced to three years in prison and had been detained at the Attock jail since then.

After multiple hearings on the petition, the division bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, reserved its verdict on Monday.
