KARACHI: Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the removal of COVID-related restrictions for air travelers, according to a notification issued on Thursday.

The decision to abolish the requirements for presenting COVID-19 vaccination and testing evidence while traveling to and from Pakistan was made based on the advice of the National Command and Operations Center.

The notification states that the need to provide a COVID-19 vaccine certificate upon arrival and present a negative PCR report before boarding or upon arrival has been eliminated for all incoming passengers.

Additionally, the mandatory 2% screening for COVID-19 of passengers from the UK, Gulf countries, and other nations has been lifted.

“These decisions pertaining to inbound passengers to Pakistan, as conveyed by the National Command and Operations Center, will be effective immediately and until further notice,” the notification mentioned.

Initially, when the global pandemic emerged, Pakistan implemented strict COVID-related restrictions and requirements to prevent the spread.

However, these restrictions were periodically relaxed and reinstated based on the COVID situation within and outside the country, causing significant financial losses to airline services.
