KARACHI: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced plans for the next three months, including hiring 4,400 new teachers, establishing 4 new IB community colleges, and granting financial autonomy to 34,000 schools. He highlighted Karachi’s special developmental package, where projects for roads, water, sewage, and mass transit will commence soon. Additionally, after adding 50 electric buses, another 100 buses will be introduced on roads by August. The distribution of subsidies to 200,000 farmers under the Be Nazeer Hari Card scheme has also begun in stages.

Earlier, the Sindh government had imposed restrictions on giving gifts such as watches and caps to students in schools. The Education Department of Sindh has issued a formal notification directing all directors, principals, and headmasters to implement these instructions immediately.
The notification explicitly states that children should not be made to stand in lines to welcome guests at any government educational institution, imposing a complete ban on this practice deemed inappropriate.
Similarly, the tradition of giving watches, Sindhi caps, or any gifts at the government level has also been discontinued.
The Sindh government’s stance is that all departments will strictly adhere to these regulations, and strict action will be taken against any violations. The new policy will be implemented immediately to restrict educational environments to academic activities rather than formal ceremonies.
