ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the government will make significant investments in the agricultural sector and foster information technology (IT) innovation in the upcoming budget.
The announcement came after a meeting between the Prime Minister and an economic team, headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, which presented the economic survey for the financial year 2022-23.
Expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the economic team in ensuring stability and progress in the country’s economy, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the commendable services provided by the team despite the economic challenges inherited from the previous government. He specifically praised their dedication in managing the aftermath of historic floods.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting small farmers. He outlined several measures, including the provision of high-quality seeds and automatic agricultural machinery, as well as the expansion of the interest-free loan program designed to benefit small-scale farmers. Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that farmers achieving higher production per acre would be duly recognized and rewarded by the government.
The Prime Minister’s announcement signifies a strong push towards bolstering the agricultural sector and promoting technological advancements in the country.
