ISLAMABAD: The government has raised the prices of petroleum products, with petrol now costing Rs4.80 more per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) going up by Rs7.95 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the new prices came into effect from midnight between Sunday and Monday (June 16) and will remain in place until June 30, 2025.

After the latest hike, the price of petrol has increased to Rs258.45 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now be sold at Rs262.59 per litre.

Earlier this month, the government had made a minor increase of Re1 per litre in petrol prices from June 1, raising the rate from Rs252.63 to Rs253.63. At that time, the price of high-speed diesel was kept unchanged at Rs254.64 per litre.

Official sources say the recent increase is due to rising international oil prices, which have been affected by ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran. The conflict has disrupted global oil supply chains and pushed crude prices higher in the international market.
