LAHORE, RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a reward of Rs10,000 for each worker and official involved in the “Clean Punjab” operation during Eid-ul-Azha.

In a social media statement, CM Maryam praised the efforts of district administrations and especially the sanitation staff across Punjab. “The way district administrations and particularly Clean Punjab workers performed their duties with honesty and dedication is commendable,” she wrote. “They collected animal waste from streets, cleaned neighborhoods, and washed the roads with disinfectant and rose water. I give full credit and appreciation to all involved in this historic cleanliness operation.”

She further added, “I truly value your hard work and thank you all for your service.”

She shared that around 15 million biodegradable bags were distributed before Eid and the entire operation was monitored through Safe City cameras. She urged citizens to report if any waste was left unattended, saying the feedback helped teams respond quickly. After removing waste, rose water and lime were sprayed for hygiene purposes.

“All tehsils uploaded their data on a digital dashboard,” she explained. “Sanitation workers carried out their duties even in extreme heat, and they deserve full recognition.”

Aurangzeb also revealed that the next step in the province’s cleanliness plan is to convert collected waste into energy, as part of CM Maryam’s broader vision to turn problems into practical solutions.

She praised local governments and the sanitation teams for their hard work, stating, “While others focused on media management, we focused on real action.”

The minister urged other provinces to stop criticizing and instead focus on adopting modern and practical waste solutions. “Good work should inspire others to do the same,” she said.

She added that the upcoming provincial budget will include major projects for water supply, sewerage, and sanitation. She also announced a methane gas energy project at the Lakho Dair West site, highlighting it as Punjab’s largest-ever public-private waste management initiative.

Aurangzeb confirmed that CM Maryam Nawaz will continue rewarding hardworking sanitation workers for their service.
