Helpline centre opens at NCCIA headquarters to tackle cybercrime complaints

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) headquarters.

As per the details, he opened the agency’s Helpline Centre and met with the staff, acknowledging their innovative and modern methods.

The minister toured different sections of the agency, including the Helpline Centre, Forensic Lab, and Network Security Department. He announced that the NCCIA Helpline is now fully functional, and people can report cybercrime issues by calling 1799. He directed officers to address these complaints quickly.

The minister said that in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), agencies like NCCIA are very important. He noted that NCCIA was created to meet the needs of today’s digital world.

He stressed that preventing cybercrimes requires advanced technology, software, and equipment. “This is a new agency, and we must work hard to make it one of the most effective institutions,” said Mohsin Naqvi.

He also emphasized the need to hire skilled staff and provide them with necessary resources. He asked for a detailed plan to improve the NCCIA headquarters building and instructed immediate action to fill staff shortages. He approved the agency’s new logo and flag.

Additionally, he gave approval to restart the National Cyber Scouts Program under NCCIA, which will educate and train school and college students about cybercrimes.

Director General NCCIA Waqar-ud-Din Syed informed the minister about the agency’s operations. Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, and other officials were present during the visit.

NCCIA Helpline Contact Number

The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has officially launched its helpline to assist citizens in reporting cybercrime incidents. The dedicated contact number 1799 is now fully operational, allowing the public to lodge complaints related to online fraud, hacking, cyberbullying, identity theft, and other digital threats.

Separately, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for their brave and effective response in stopping a terrorist attack by Khawarij militants on the Miryan Police Station in Bannu. The police successfully prevented the attack with a professional and courageous effort.

“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police faced the Khawarij terrorists and stopped their attack,” Naqvi said in a statement. “I salute the police team for their success.”

He noted that the police have shown bravery in similar situations before. “The police responded strongly and professionally to the terrorists’ attack, defeating their harmful plans,” he added.

Praising the team, Naqvi said, “I congratulate the entire police force for stopping the dangerous plans of the Fitna-e-Khawarij terrorists. We are proud of the brave and professional members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.”

This event shows the ongoing security challenges in the region and the efforts of law enforcement to maintain peace against militant threats.

In another development, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the country’s security forces for their recent successful operations against Fitna-e-Hindustan militants in Balochistan.
