ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has announced plans to build a new stadium in Islamabad.
Speaking informally to journalists after a PCB selection committee meeting, Naqvi said the stadium would be built at a scenic location in Islamabad. He also shared that the National Cricket Academy in Lahore would be upgraded.
Naqvi mentioned a plan to build a five-star hotel in Lahore within a year.
Talking about international cricket, he said that discussions with the UAE government had been successful. Cricket fans with valid tickets will receive visas. Talks with PIA are planned for arranging chartered flights.

Earlier, the PCB chairman consulted on the selection of national players during the meeting.
Separately, Naqvi hosted a luncheon to honor workers involved in the speedy upgrade of Gaddafi Stadium. Over 1,500 workers attended the event. Naqvi thanked them and praised their hard work.
He invited the workers to watch the upcoming match between Pakistan and New Zealand, calling them national heroes who deserve recognition.
“This stadium belongs to you. Your efforts made its completion possible in record time,” Naqvi said. He expressed hope that under Mohammad Rizwan’s leadership, Pakistan would win the Champions Trophy.
