Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi has announced the coaching staff selected to train the national team for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Sharjah later this month. The former Test cricketer Abdul Rehman will lead the coaching staff as head coach, while Umar Gul, who previously served as the bowling coach for Afghanistan’s national team, has been selected as the bowling coach. Mohammad Yousaf, a former Test batsman, has been appointed as the batting coach. The announcement was made by Sethi on his official Twitter handle.

In addition to the coaching staff, the PCB has also named A Majeed as the fielding coach, Drikus Simon as the trainer, Cliffe Deacon as the physio, Talha Ijaz as the analyst, Mansoor Rana as the manager, and Ahsan Nagi as the media coordinator for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

The Pakistan team will be playing the T20I series without their main players, including national captain Babar Azam, who have been given rest ahead of a packed schedule this year. The PCB has announced an inexperienced squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which includes players who performed well during this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL). Shadab Khan has been named the captain for the series.

The 15-member T20I squad against Afghanistan includes Shadab Khan (c), Abdullah Shafique, Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, Tayyab Tahir, and Zaman Khan.
