ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced on Tuesday that unauthorized immigrants must depart from Pakistan by November 1, or they will face compulsory deportation by the authorities.

During a press conference held after an apex committee meeting concerning the national action plan, the security chief stated that the deadline for undocumented immigrants to leave the country voluntarily has been set for November 1.

This development follows a recent tragic suicide bombing in Mastung, Balochistan, in which more than 60 individuals lost their lives. Afghan nationals or their territory were reportedly linked to most of the recent acts of terrorism in Pakistan.

A statistical report by the independent think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed that the first half of 2023 witnessed 271 militant attacks, resulting in 389 fatalities and 656 injuries. Terrorism incidents in the country surged by 79% during this period.

During his speech, the caretaker interior minister disclosed that Afghan nationals were responsible for 14 out of the 24 suicide bombings that occurred in the country this year.

He cautioned undocumented immigrants to leave Pakistan by November 1 or be subjected to compulsory expulsion.

Bugti also announced that all state law enforcement agencies would be activated to take action against unauthorized foreign nationals, who would be deported after November 1. Additionally, all properties and businesses operated by these undocumented individuals will be confiscated after the deadline expires.

He emphasized that legal action will be taken against any Pakistani citizens found to be engaged in illegal businesses or acquiring substantial properties through these unauthorized foreign nationals, in accordance with the country’s laws.
