Lahore: Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Shah Afridi played against Multan Sultans in the Qualifier of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) while suffering from fever, revealed former Pakistani cricket captain Shahid Afridi on Wednesday.
“I think if you have a fever, you shouldn’t play, but he [Shaheen] wanted to win the match and then rest until the final,” said Shahid Afridi in an interview with a news channel.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has claimed 14 wickets in 10 matches of the ongoing season of the tournament at an economy rate of 8.61, led the Qalandars in a losing effort against the Sultans, who defeated them by 84 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
With the win, the Sultans booked their spot in the final of the PSL 8 for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, the Qalandars will now play the second eliminator against the winning team of the first eliminator.
The closing ceremony and final will be held on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs. The winner will not only lift the Supernova Trophy but will also collect a cheque of Rs120m, while the runners-up will receive a cheque of Rs48m.
